Finally Own It---Sorta...

January 7, 2018

If you haven't already heard---we financed the old theater on December 28, 2017!  We're so grateful to Tim Marshall and Tonya Metcalf for their guidance in moving forward.  We're also grateful to Dale and Virginia Callahan for working out a way for us to purchase the building so that we could proceed with plans to cleanup, renovate and re-open the old building.

We're very happy to finally purchase the building for our non-profit and look forward to all of the great things that this project will do for our community.

We do need help paying for the building and we have started a fundraiser call the Booneville Theater Tile Project.  By selling only 1440 engraved tiles, we can totally pay off our debt to Dale and Virginia Callahan.  Won't you help us?  The tile will go across the front of the building and visitors and passerby's will be able to see all of the memorial tiles gracing the front of our newly renovated building.  You can purchase a brick by clicking the theater image below:

We wish that we could say that the building is only in slight disrepair but that would be misleading.  I have uploaded some pictures (below) for everyone to take a look at to see just how much work will need done before we can open the building.

We are aware of lead and mold in the building and were recently informed that the building may have asbestos in it as well.  Although that may sound like bad news, it is actually good news when it comes to applying for Brownfields Cleanup Funding.  This funding would allow us to get all of the bad things taken care of before we move forward with renovations.

We know that there have been a lot of curious eyes trying to peek inside of the theater but please---for your own safety and health---avoid the risks.

You will see us down there when the weather warms a little---shoring up the windows and doors and if our plans works out...you may get to see a lighted marquee before too very long.
